Mimi G's Mermaid Maxi

Mimi G is at it again. Several weeks back I was doing my usual blog crawl and ran across this post

it's been a minute since I had a MUST.HAVE.THIS. moment but I found myself smack dab in the middle of one. After patiently (not really) waiting for the tutorial on this one, here is my version of this skirt.

I feel fabulous in this and I will definitely be making this again. Now for the really good part. Mimi has graciously offered to sponsor a giveaway of this tutorial right here on my blog. Soooooo if you want to learn great technique, simple pattern drafting or if you just want a fabulous maxi skirt, leave a comment below telling me how you plan to rock it. The winner will be announced on Monday. Good luck!

  3. Hey Kelly, so I discovered your blog via the fab Mimi G. I made the wonderful Regal Maxi using her tutorial and almost fell out when I saw this shirt because I knew immediately how I wanted to style this. I am a high school teacher and prom is coming up, and I am kind of tired of buying a formal dress each year only to wear once to chaperone! So I plan on making this skirt out of a gold matte sequin to rock with a vintage 'T' and black 'boyfriend' blazer! After all it's not MY prom and I can do as I please!
Love Your Blog, You have a new reader!

  10. Fabulous skirt! I had a mermaid-style wedding dress which I loooved! It would be awesome to have a similar style every-day skirt. I'd rock it with some cute heels (or flats for that matter) and a fitted or relaxed summer top (tank, short-sleeve, v-neck, hey I don't want to limit myself :) I really need more skirts in my wardrobe!

  12. You look lovely in your maxi! I have always loved maxi skirts even when they weren't "cool". I'd probably wear mine with ballet flats and a button up blouse- no heels for this girly. I have four little people I chase around!

  13. That skirt looks fabulous. I would love to win the pattern. I would pair the skirt with a neon color tank, sandals and blue jean vest.
