Progress is Slow . . .B5562

But going. I've got the body of the shirt together

My lofty goal is that I will manage to put the elastic in and insert both sleeves by Tuesday. The reality is I might be able to get the elastic in one sleeve.

I'm really struggling to get used to sewing in these little bits it's so different from what I've been used to doing for nearly 30 years. However, I have to keep reminding myself that I am further along in January than I was at the end of last year in terms of completing a garment. I think wearing the shirt will help to solidify my new sewing patterns.

Shoe Love

Meet the newest edition to the family.

Jessica Simpson Edith.

My shoe game is tight, now if only I could sew as fast as I can buy shoes.

This is Huge!

There is free shipping on Denver Fabrics this week on orders of $45 or more. I don't know if other people think it's as huge as I do but while I often find great fabric on this site, sometime the cost of shipping prohibits me from ordering from here. (I have no affiliation with this site, just spreading the news). Happy shopping!

I am having the hardest time . . .

Staying focused. I am determined to make 2012 more productive than 2011 so I am following the advice of some of my fellow bloggers and breaking projects down in to 15-30 minute increments until I can get them completed. I am currently supposed to working on B5562 view B

and I am keeping a sewing journal to also help me keep a realistic idea of how long it's taking me to finish things and at what point I'm getting hung up.

What I'm noticing is that I am having an extremely difficult time staying focused on my project and I spend my time with my mind wandering toward other projects. I then start preping the new project until my mind wanders again and so it goes. As I write, I've already pulled fabric for B5679 View B

This also explains why at any given time, I have AT LEAST 2-3 UFO's at any given time, which over the years, I have grown kind of fond of because when I do pick them back up, they are quick to complete, but I digress. What I really want to know, is how do those of you who have to sew in small increments stay focused? I always love to hear from the experts.

Happy New Year!!

I'm so looking forward to 2012. I haven't felt this kind of excitement that wasn't related to the birth of a baby in some time and since my baby days are OVER, this feels really good. While I would have liked to spend the day sewing, I spent it cooking instead. Here are my results.

Gumbo

7-up Cake w/Cream Cheese Frosting.

I will have to walk A LOT to make up for today, but I need to exercise more anyway and it was sooooo good.
