Pattern Description: High Waist Pencil Skirt
Pattern Sizing: You draft the pattern according to your measurements
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I think so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I have watched a lot of sewing/crafting videos over the years. I continue to be impressed by Mimi’s teaching style as she walks you through every step and tells you why you’re doing what you’re doing in simple easy to understand terms. Mimi has produced another winner.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The tutorial is full of techniques and manages to give you all the information you would typically learn in a sewing 101 series yet presents it in a way that is so matter of fact and encouraging that you don’t even realize you’re learning intermediate techniques. Pattern drafting, fitting, topstitching, edge stitching, the COOLEST, EASIEST invisible zipper insertion technique known to man (this alone makes the video worth the price) are just a few of the techniques you’ll learn in this tutorial.
Fabric Used: Stretch Denim
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Not necessary since the pattern is custom
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Honestly, I don’t know what to be happier about, my perfect skirt, how much use I will get out of this pattern or the unlimited options that can be created using the basic skirt pattern.
Conclusion: This will be my TNT pencil skirt pattern
Work it Kelly! I'll have to check out this pattern. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteYou really do look great in this skirt. I have been looking for nice stretch denim for my Mom with no luck, could you please share your source for this fabric?
ReplyDeleteThis piece came from Fabric.com. I've great luck with them and Denver Fabrics for stretch denim.
DeleteOh my, you look really fabulous in this skirt. I love how you styled it as well. As a bigger lady I am always very self confident about my stomach and try to hide everything and yet I look at other ladies and think how awesome they look and so put together. You have inspired me to do better.
ReplyDeleteThank you, the way I see it, this is the body I have. Trying to camoflauge it only makes it look bigger and sloppy. I let my personality and tastes dictate my fashion choices. I believe I can pretty much wear anything I want as long as I can make adjustments for my body so that's what I do.
DeleteThank you all so much for all the love. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteOh I agree with you, I love this skirt and your total look! Fabulous!

DeleteHi Kelli: I love the skirt and u did a great job. How long have u been sewing? Looking forward to making a skirt. For the skirt did u just measure your waist and thats it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! No, the tutorial I used has you take a series of measurements which help you draft a custom pattern for the skirt. I would definitely recommend it.

ReplyDeleteThank you! The shoes are by Wild Pair and I got them at Bakers Shoes about a year ago.
