DIY Maxi Skirt

A couple of weeks ago I was reading through some of my favorite blogs and ran across this convertible dress/skirt on Adrienne's blog and decided to make one of my own to wear to dinner with my family the next day. After clarifying a few details with Adrienne, I got to cutting. Leave it to me to take something that literally should take no more than 20 minutes from cutting to wearing and stretch it out to a couple of weeks.

Actually, I did finish it pretty fast, but once it was done and I realized it was too long and I needed to cut it, I threw a tantrum lost interest and moved on to another project. True to form at about 1:00 a.m. I decided I should hem it and wear it today so it is.

It was clear but cool today so the jean jacket was perfect for the weather. I doubt that I will wear it without some kind of sweater/jacket because there are just too many lady bumps to contend with but it was super comfortable and wore extremely well. Sorry I look a little worn out. These pics were taken at 9:00 p.m. after working all day.

Often when I try new patterns, I will make a test garment using my least favorite print at the time. This ITY knit fit the bill.

I can see making a few more of these this summer.

  1. I'm not sure what you meant by "this ITY knit fit the bill", but if that meant you don't like it...can I have it!!! I love this, it looks great on you, comfortable and beautiful print fabric! Just stunning!

  2. This is your least favorite fabric? I rather like it! TFS

    1. TFS? Just to clarify. I like this one. I LOVE the others.

  3. Hi, I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. You needn't participate if it's not your thing (I even modified the requirements lol) but I just wanted to let you know. Details on my blog, just click on my name.

  4. I love this blog! You are hilarious. I know how it feels to finish a pattern and then be frustrated by tiny alterations.

  5. Hey, I recognize that print. It makes a lovely skirt for sure!

  6. You are looking good in that outfit. I'm glad I found this blog.
