M6844

Generally speaking, I buy fabric that I like with little to no idea of what it will eventually become.  However every once in a while, I will see a piece of fabric and know instantly what it was meant to be.  That is the story with this piece.  On a trip to JoAnn's I saw this fabric and instantly knew it would become this cute little peplum cardi.

I've paired my cardi with these coated rock star jeans from Old Navy.  The coated variety only come in Black and Wine but they do come in lots of other colors Here and I love the fit.

Pattern Description:   MISSES'/MISS PETITE CARDIGANS: Close-fitting cardigans (do not meet at center front) have collar extending into front band, and narrow hem. A and C: shaped hemline, wrong side shows.

Pattern Sizing: Combinations: Y(XSmall-Small-Medium), ZZ(Large-XLarge-XXLarge)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I think so

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The pattern layout is TIGHT.  Did I say the layout is tight?  I would advise buying a little more fabric than they suggest.  I appreciate the effort at economy but I'd rather not be stressed out worrying that I have enough fabric.

Fabric Used: I used a sweater knit I picked up at JoAnn's

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I sewed as is.  No alterations necessary.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I could definitely make this again although I have no current plans.

Conclusion:   This is a very versatile piece that can be used to build your wardrobe.

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE these shoes.  I'm a sucker for a great oxford and these babies from 9 West do not disappoint. I got these at the beginning of Fall and they have been completely sold out on the 9 West site for months but they are available Here

Here's a closer look at the fabric and you can just see the metallic threads between the dots.

Happy New Year!

Hey everybody!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have been sewing but I haven't posted either because I haven't worn any thing new yet or haven't finished it.

This is what I'm currently working on but I keep getting side tracked. It's Simplicity A1738 which is now out of print.

In the mean time, I made Christmas pjs for the family

And as a result I am breaking up with pattern matching for awhile. I also made four other pair of pjs and am in the middle of making a warm up suit for my oldest son because basketball starts tomorrow and since it's still a little cold in the mornings and in the gym it will help me keep him healthy.

I've been off for two weeks and go back to work on Tuesday. Sleeping in has been glorious but now I want to challenge myself to see what I can complete before I return to work.

Here comes the parade

I've been so focused on staying warm lately (temps dipped as low as the teens and I had the frozen pipes to prove it) that I haven't had the time nor inclination to sew. Instead when I've had down time, we've been huddled under blankets and doing a lot of family movie watching. BUT when I have thought about sewing it's been of outerwear or layering pieces so be prepared for the parade of outwear items that are sure to follow as I. CANT. STAND. TO. BE. COLD.

Another OOTD

I rarely get my clothes ready at night but I generally at least know what I'm going to wear.  On those rare occassions that I wake up and realize that I don't have a plan, I will lay in the bed, mentally shopping my closet until I come up with something.  Today, I decided to wear my new scarf so I had to plan something that worked with it.

Here's what I came up with.

My photos aren't the best and my 7 year old photographer cut off some of my head in a couple of shots  but you get the idea.

Scarf: Target similar Here; Jeans Torrid Here; Blazer Lane Bryant (old) but a good option Here

I love Torrid jeans these pants in particular because they are the slim boot cut so you get some of the flare without them being overwhelming.  HOWEVER, whoever thought it would be a good idea to have faux pockets in the front clearly was not having one of their best days.

OOTD - Just running around on the weekend

Hi guys,

I took these pics while on my way out to run weekend errands.  I don't have a lot of tennis shoes but most all of the ones I do have have some type of bling going on.  Keeping it real casual with jeans and a T-Shirt.

Shoes:  Nike (Old), T-Shirt Wal-Mart, Jeans and Belt Torrid Here and Here

I live in a fairly small city and my practice is in the same city I live in so I learned my lesson early on about being outside looking busted LOL!

Meow!!!

It's taken a few days to post this but this is what I wore on my birthday.  I used Mimi G's 30 minute pencil skirt tutorial to make this skirt which I have made before here.  I can't recommend this skirt enough. I used a sweater knit I got at Hancock and lined it with lightweight tricot.

Shoes:  Steve Madden (old)
Denim Shirt:  Target here

Thank you all so much for all the birthday love!
