M6115 . . . Again

There really isn't much more to say about this dress. I've made and reviewed it or something very similar four times now. It's my go to maxi dress pattern and it's simple lines lend itself to being perfect for fabulous fabric. I was able to knock this one out in about an hour without instructions. You should definitely try it.

Patterns and Fabric But Little to No Sewing

I've been buying fabric, all the new patterns and making all sorts of sewing plans but no actual sewing.  I was under the weather and recovering for a couple of weeks and now I'm back at work with a vengeance.  In the midst of all of that I completed a three week training program for a new university I will be teaching at so I have had zero free time.  As it is, I routinely go to be after 2:00 a.m. just to be able to fit in the basics.

I am working on my Mother's Day look though and if there is time, there will be a new little something for the princess.  Another project I have been working on is trying to finish up some of my UFO's.  I have two that have to be picked apart before they can be finished so I work on those while vegging out in front of the TV at night.  I didn't have the instructions for one and tried to wing it.  Epic.Fail. So I reached out to Vogue Pattern Company and emailed them one night and the next morning the PDF version of the instructions were attached to an e-mail.  Sweet!! But now I have to pick it apart because my steps were out of order.

I do feel like my mojo is revving up though and I hope to have a prolific sewing Summer.

Simplicity A1738/2150

I wear jeans A LOT so I've been wanting to make a few jackets to dress them up.  This is the first jacket I've made in about 20 years so I thought I'd pick an easy one and this was definitely fit the bill.  I'm wearing a simple white tank underneath and the addition of the jacket, killer shoes and a little bling definitely increase the WOW! factor.

Pattern Description:   Misses loose cut jackets

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I think so

Were the instructions easy to follow? Definitely

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes

Fabric Used: A beautiful ponte knit I got from Fabric Mart Fabrics.  It sewed like butta

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Made as is.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?  I may sew it again but I would definitely recommend it to others.

Conclusion: This pattern is OOP as it was a part of I believe the "Sew Simple" line that Simplicity has now discontinued BUT this jacket is also one of the views on Simplicity 2150 so you can still get it if you want it.

Another Mimi G Double Peplum Mini

I made this before and reviewed it here  I started this one a little while ago and then as often happens got distracted but I REALLY wanted to wear it so I finished up the last little hem last night.  I don't really have much else to say about this one other than I love it and will probably be making it again at some point, but I'm going to try to move on . . . for now.

Another Double Peplum Mini

I've been working on this off and on for a little over a week. BUT since the kids are out on spring break for two weeks and my big girls are here I've had lots of other things to occupy my time. I only need to install the zipper and hem the neckline but that's enough to keep me from being able to wear it. Hopefully I'll get back to it in a few days so I can wear it and take pics.

Mimi G off the Shoulder Maxi

I've been trying to get ahead of the Spring and Summer sewing game. It tends to be my busiest time of the year for sewing and for personal and family commitments so I thought I'd start now.

I've made this dress before here and it went together very quickly so I though I'd use the simple design to show off this great fabric I picked up a while ago from Fabric Mart Fabrics for $1.99 a yard.

Check out that pattern matching.  Never again will I try to match a pattern without a walking foot.

I didn't line the dress because a while back I made a long half slip out of a lightweight knit to wear under my thinner knit maxi dresses.  It hasn't been warm enough to wear it yet so for now it will just hang in the closet waiting for nice weather. I'll add pictures of me wearing the dress when the weather warms up.

Mimi G Peplum Mini

You guys know how much I love Mimi G's tutorials and this  Peplum Mini is no exception.  It comes together really quickly and there are so many options.  I have a few other versions already planned.  This tutorial can work for sewers of all sizes as Mimi teaches you how to make custom alterations.  I love the top as you can probably tell by all of the pictures, but I would buy it for the alteration technique and the way she does her darts alone. I've been sewing a long time and know how to do a lot of things. But every time I make one of her tutorials I learn an easier, more efficient way to do something. That alone makes the price worth it. Now I'll just leave you with all of my pics.
